Former president Donald Trump interacts with fans John Jones-USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday morning, the sports world was hit with some shocking news as the PGA Tour and Saudi-backed LIV Golf announced a merger between the two leagues. It’s massive news across the world of golf and it even caught the attention of former United States President Donald Trump.

Following the announcement, Donald Trump made it clear that he supports the merger, calling it a “big, beautiful, and glamorous deal.”

“GREAT NEWS FROM LIV GOLF. A BIG, BEAUTIFUL, AND GLAMOROUS DEAL FOR THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF GOLF. CONGRATS TO ALL!!!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, a social network he helped create when he was banned from Twitter and Facebook.

Of course, Trump has a vested interest in LIV Golf. Not only has he been a vocal supporter of the Saudi-backed league, but he also has a business relationship with LIV as the tour has already hosted multiple events on his golf courses since its foundation and will host two more this year with plans to host more in the future.

The details of the merger have not yet been made public and it’s not clear what this will mean for the future of events on Trump-owned golf courses. But the former president certainly sounds pleased with the news.
