Asante Samuel enjoyed an incredible NFL career, as the former New England Patriots cornerback amassed numerous achievements throughout his career. But, is the 37-year-old a Hall of Famer? Samuel thinks he is.
Samuel, who’s eligible for the Hall of Fame in 2019, caught up with TMZ, admitting his stats tell the story of his case.
“The facts are the facts,” he says. “If you’re not going by the facts, then what are you going by?!”
His resume is incredibly impressive: Two Super Bowls, four pro bowls, one first team all pro, tied for third-most picks in playoff history and he twice led the league in interceptions. There weren’t many corners better than Samuel during his peak.
At the end of the day, Samuel has had both regular season and more importantly, postseason success over a ten-year NFL career. I wouldn’t call him a lock to be immediately put in the Hall, Samuel definitely deserves to be there. He’s one of the best corners ever and should be recognized as such.
