Winning the Super Bowl is tough to do. You need a lot to fall in your favor and without those breaks, you could just as easily exit during the Wild Card round. Antonio Freeman and Brett Favre know this as Super Bowl champions. They were a team to be feared at their peak because of the connection they had as teammates.
And while that is all well and good, Favre left Freeman with a bad set of hands. Which is tough to do with such a sure handed receiver.
Freeman was asked if shows off his Super Bowl ring often during an ESPN Q & A and his response was heart breaking. “Actually, Favre fractured or dislocated 7 of my 10 fingers, so, unfortunately, the ring no longer fits,” Freeman said.
Can you even comprehend how hard the ball has to be thrown for your fingers to get mangled like that? The velocity on the ball would have to be so intense. Favre has always been known as a gunslinger but this takes the lore around him to another level.
Catching a football from one of the league’s best had to of been a pleasure. Having this be the end result though takes a lot of luster off of that relationship.
