Roger Goodell’s NFL career began 33 years ago, as the current commissioner worked his way up the ranks from an administrative intern position, one that he began in 1982. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College (Washington, PA) in 1981 and was seeking a position in the NFL.

Just weeks after graduation, he sent a general interest letter to then-commish Pete Rozelle, expressing his interest in any position. It’s unclear if the letter led to him obtaining the intern position, but it’s an interesting piece of history (via Darren Rovell):
