According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, the NBA will announce that it has reached a deal with Stance that will make Stance socks the official sock of the NBA.
While details are not known at this time, the deal will be for multiple years and it will begin next season. They will also be sold at retail stores because the basketball sock market has proven to be lucrative.
Stance Executive Vice President of Business Development Clarke Miyasaki was understandably excited about the news:
“We’re just this little sock company that’s the first brand to have its logo on every player on the NBA court. I hope this gives us a big advantage at retail. All we do is socks, and we’re committed to making the best for the best players in the world.”
As for the socks themselves, they look pretty damn good. It seems like there will be a couple of offerings for each team and the distinctive striping on each sock looks fashionable and undeniably athletic at the same time.
Stance already has a video trumpeting their new collaboration with the league featuring Chandler Parsons, Dwyane Wade and Klay Thompson. Check it out below.
Sigh, I’m going to wind up with three pairs of these things when they become available. Those Warriors “home” socks are calling me.
