Veteran puck-moving defenseman Jordan Leopold was one of the many names moved before today’s NHL trade deadline, and the 34-year old’s new squad should make his daughter very, very happy.

Jordyn Leopold – the 11-year-old daughter of Jordan – sent a handwritten letter to the Minnesota Wild back in January pleading with them to trade for her father, a Minnesota native. In her letter, Jordyn begs the Wild to make a move for her dad because he is lonely and the rest of the family “is lost without him.” It’s a hard-hitting reminder of the ramifications trades and transactions can have on personal lives of professional athletes- something that is often overlooked.

But, on Monday, the Leopolds got their happy ending when the Wild traded Justin Falk and a fifth-round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets to bring dad home. Awesome.
