Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau is pretty good at hockey. If you need proof of that, his 176 points (78 goals, 98 assists) in 119 games at Boston College is a solid place to start.

But the 21-year old NHL rookie’s track record of torturing opposing defenders goes back much further than that, as evidenced by this clip from 2003. The video was uploaded by a Reddit user and shows a 9 or 10-year old Johnny Hockey (apparently then known as ‘Johnny On The Spot’) dominating at the Brick Super Novice Hockey Tournament at West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton.

You have to figure that most professional athletes were much better than the majority of the competition they faced as youngsters, but it’s still pretty incredible to see just how talented Gaudreau was at such a young age. The speed, the slippery moves, the vision…it’s all there.
