Michigan has eliminated Arizona State from the NCAAs in softball in each of the last two season’s. As much as last year’s loss to U-of-M must have stung, there’s no way it came anywhere as close to the one that happened last night. Down a run in the bottom of the seventh inning and with a runner on first, ASU’s Amber Freeman was inches away from hitting a walk-off homer. However, Michigan’s center fielder, Lyndsay Doyle, to the surprise of coach Carol Hutchins, made SportsCenter’s top play for the night by robbing Freeman of the home run.

Michigan was forced to win two games on Sunday after losing the first in the best-of-three, and will now face Florida State in the Super Regional.
