A couple of days ago we told you about Michael Vick and The Humane Society protesting Dog Wars, a dogfighting game for Android. Now animal rights group PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has released a free iPhone and iPod Touch app in an effort to show its shared opposition towards the game. PETA’s app gives users “action alerts,” which educate them about current PETA campaigns and petitions. One such example of a campaign is asking PETA supporters to petition Google to have them remove the Dog Wars game.

In a PETA press release, PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman had this to say about their new iPhone app:

Dog Wars promotes felony cruelty to animals, plain and simple. PETA’s new app allows iPhone users to employ consumer pressure to prevent dogs from being torn to shreds in dogfights and to nip other violent acts of abuse against animals in the bud.”
