It’s been a while since we’ve done a Big Skeezy Challenge so we decided to do a special one for you on Christmas Eve. We chose it because it combines our love of seasonal holiday fare and drinking. The Challenge was simple: put down a pint of brandy and a quart of egg nog in as little time as possible. Easy, right? That’s what I thought when we dreamed it up, but little did I know that the only quart-sized egg nog to be found on Christmas Eve would be honey-sweetened. Let’s talk about that for a second. Who the hell drank regular egg nog and said, “You know what? This could be sweeter. Let’s pour some honey in it and see how she flies.” Terrible idea.
I thought about how best to go about this and I decided to use a blender as both a mixing device and a glass. Here’s the setup:
You’ll notice the mostly empty brandy bottle sitting to the left. That was full when I poured that pint glass. Now, the mixing:
It really was a lovely and festive pour, watching the nog dance with the brandy. Please note the man-sized ham sitting behind the blender. We ate the shit out of that later, but that’s another story.
Finally, it was time to begin. I’ll let the pictures tell the story:
3:17.7 – BOOM! Here are some takeaways:
1. I wish it hadn’t been that honey stuff. I’m pretty sure I’m diabetic now.
2. I appreciate a good holiday nog but I like to savor it. Drinking nog for speed and quantity isn’t nearly as fun.
3. I’m glad I did this BEFORE our epic Christmas Eve feast. It was FILLING!
4. I’m not a brandy man, by nature, and now I know why. Brandy is a hell of a drink.
As always, we’d love to see you guys try this (safely) and let us know your results. Also, if you have an idea for a challenge send it along to us!
