The eyes of the football world were fixed firmly on Zurich on Thursday as FIFA’s executive committee decided who will host the 2018 and 2022 World Cup finals.
On Wednesday, 2022 contenders Australia, Qatar, Japan, South Korea and United States all made their final presentations to FIFA’s exco members and the world’s press, and on Thursday morning, it is the turn of the four European bids.
The executive committee gathered and spent more than the usual amount of time deciding. When the smoke had cleared Russia was the winner of the 2018 World Cup Bid.
