Los Angeles Kings v Phoenix Coyotes

After much debate about who be the No. 1 starter in net for the American men’s hockey team in Sochi, it has been announced that Jonathan Quick will get the nod in Team USA’s first game on Thursday.

Coach Dan Bylsma revealed that Quick will be his guy when the Americans take on Slovakia in their first game of the tournament, but wouldn’t commit to Quick – the 28-year old Los Angeles Kings netminder – being the full-time starter just yet. Instead, Bylsma said he has a plan in net for other preliminary-round games, but failed to elaborate.

It’s likely that we’ll get a look at Ryan Miller – the starter for the 2010 silver medal-winning Team USA – in the preliminary round as well, but we’ll just have to wait to find out when.
