Today’s lesson in superstar athlete names is brought to you by the letters “R” and “W”, which are the initials of both Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, and Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook. This morning, while discussing the Seahawks on ESPN’s First Take, co-host Stephen A. Smith kept referring to Wilson as Westbrook, which is, um, not correct.
Although, just for fun, imagine if the Sonics had never moved to Oklahoma City, and Westbrook played in the same city as Wilson (remember, Westbrook was originally drafted by the Sonics, even though he never played in Seattle). Stephen’s head might actually explode.
