WNBA star Kelsey Plum and New York Giants star tight end Darren Waller made their divorce official on Tuesday after only one year of marriage, ending what was once an extremely powerful couple in the sports world.
Plum has of course made her presence known in the WNBA, winning two WNBA championships as a member of the Las Vegas Aces in 2022 and 2023, being named an All-Star in each year as well.
Meanwhile, Darren Waller has had a very nice NFL career in his own right, playing eight years and the NFL across three different teams. His best season came in 2020 for the Las Vegas Raiders, a season where he was named a Pro Bowler for the only time in his career.
The two had just tied the knot in March of 2023. And just a little over a year later, the two officially filed for divorce according to the New York Post.
Plum’s Instagram page confirmed the news, as she posted a detailed message about the divorce.
“I’m devastated,” Plum wrote on the social media platform. “I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go. God has given me such an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends. One day I’ll share my story, today is not that day.”
It sounds like there was certainly plenty behind the scenes for Plum in particular that ultimately led to this decision. But clearly, it is a bit soon for her to go into all the details of their relationship and why it ended so abruptly.
