Over the past several seasons, Caitlin Clark has emerged as one of the best three-point shooters on the planet. But in a rather shocking turn of events, it sounds like she has decided to decline the opportunity to showcase that talent in a three-point contest.

According to a report from national women’s basketball writer Doug Feinberg of the Associated Press, Caitlin Clark was invited to participate in the three-point contest at the upcoming WNBA All-Star game, but she has decided not to accept that invitation.

“The @WNBA confirmed that [Sabrina Ionescu] and Caitlin Clark were invited for 3-point contest and declined participating. Ionescu is taking part in the Olympic camp which is getting ready for the Paris Games,” Feinberg said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

Feinberg reports that Sabrina Ionescu was also invited, but declined in order to focus on the upcoming Paris Olympic games. However, it’s not exactly clear why Clark declined her invitation considering she was not selected to participate on this year’s U.S. Olympic team.

Needless to say, this is some pretty shocking news that one of the game’s top three-point shooters declined this opportunity, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.

We’ll have to see if Clark chooses to participate in this event in future years.
