Austin Rehkow of Central Valley High nailed a 67-yard field goal as time expired to tie the game at 55 and force overtime against Shadle Park High on Thursday night in Spokane, Wash.
Remember now, the NFL record is 63 yards. This kid kicks the ball from his own 43-yard line. Amazing!
According to The National Federation of High Schools Record Book, Rehkow’s kick is tied for the second-longest high school field goal of all-time. Dirk Borgognone of Reno, Nev., holds the record with a 68-yard field goal in 1985. Two other kickers connected on 67-yard field goals in the past. One from Georgia in 1999 and another from Texas in 1987.
For the record, Central Valley went on to beat Shadle Park in overtime by a score of 62-55.
