It’s one thing for players to slam into each other full-speed on the football field, no one minds that, but talking smack about someones pool-side dance skills will apparently get you roughed up. Players from the Louisville and Southern Miss football teams got in a post-dance off pre-Beef O’Brady Bowl fracas in St. Petersburg Florida today that eventually led to state troopers breaking up the festivities. As an unnamed Southern Miss player explained:
They started talking trash about us being in Conference USA, [that] we can’t dance… it was stupid. We’ll do our talking on the field. A friendly dance competition and they take it all serious? It’s ridiculous.
You KNOW you don’t go around saying people can’t dance, that;s definitely grounds to throw down. Louisville linebacker Dexter Heyman had a different take on how things got started:
Someone said something disrespectful, did a little jawing after the dance contest… it’s all good, just a little too close to game time, ya know?
Either way it went from a friendly dance party like this:
To something a little more hostile like this:
Eventually Florida State Troopers arrived and coaches removed both teams, no charges were filed. We’ll see who’s dancing when they hit the field and get down Beef O’Brady style.
