John Calipari’s reputation as a master recruiter is undeniable but the Kentucky coach has a bevy of critics for his in-game coaching ability.
One of those critics is New York radio personality Mike Francesa, who made the same claim that the title-winning coach is a phenomenal salesman and motivator but is lacking in the X’s and O’s. Calipari was apparently listening to or made aware of the comments and decided to call in as “John from Kentucky”.
While the coach quickly revealed his identity, Francesa claimed to know it was him from the beginning, although it is evident he was lying.
