A New York teacher is in hot water after he lost control of a drone and it crashed at a U.S. Open tennis match on Thursday. According to BBC News, 26-year-old Daniel Verley was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and operating a drone in a public park outside of a prescribed area.
The drone crashed in an open area of seats during the second set of Flavia Pennetta’s victory over Monica Niculescu. It made a loud enough noise to grab the attention of those in the stadium and caused both players to stop playing after the point. The match was momentarily halted while stadium officials determined what the object was.
