Terrible news to report out of the soccer world today. Deadspin reports that all Italian league matched have been suspended following the news that Piermario Morosini, a midfielder for Livorno had a heart attack during a game today and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. According to Italy’s Gazzetta, Morosini collapsed in the 31st minute of Livorno’s Serie B match at Pescara. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Morosini.
This comes only a few weeks following a close call by Fabrice Muamba who also had a heart attack on the pitch, but thankfully survived.
