Step aside, Barry Melrose. Mike Smith’s new mullet may be the most ridiculous hairstyle to hit the NHL. My first thought when I saw this photo was, “When did Mike Smith have the time to get drunk enough to let someone do this to his head?” However, upon further investigation, it appears that this was a sober decision and that Smith is actually quite fond of his new ‘do. It’s not exactly your standard mullet, it’s more like a cross between that and a mohawk. I can’t help but wonder who is actually responsible for this work of art. Maybe Biznasty? Edward Scissorhands? Probably Biznasty.
Regardless, it’s certainly….unique. In the interview below, Smith has challenged the media to come up with a name for the hairstyle. So far they’ve come up “fullet” or “mullhawk.” What would you call it? I call it sleazy.
