Washington Capitals forward Jason Chimera suffered a nasty broken nose during Wednesday’s game against the Red Wings after attempting to lay a hit on Detroit’s Brendan Smith in the first period.
As you can see in the GIF above, Chimera’s face smashed off of Smith’s helmet, rearranging his nose in gruesome fashion.
The result was not easy to stomach:
He stayed in the game, but you probably already knew that.
