The San Francisco 49ers are not exactly happy with the field that they have been given for practice ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, but it sounds like the team is simply going to make do with what they have.
The team felt that the practice field was a little too soft compared to what they would prefer, but head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated on Monday night that the team plans to simply deal with the field instead of making any changes.
“It is what it is,” Shanahan said according to ESPN. “We’ll be all right. It’s the field we got. We’re good.”
One of the options for the team was to alter its schedule to practice at the Las Vegas Raiders facility along with the Kansas City Chiefs, but it doesn’t sound like the team is willing to do that. Instead, they’ll just work with the current field the way that it is.
“We’re not going to completely change our schedule and do something crazy,” Shanahan said. “We’ll deal with what we got.”
The NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell have maintained adamant that the field has been tested by multiple experts who have verified that is safe and playable.
