The status of New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was at least a little bit in question this offseason as he rehabbed from a torn ACL he sustained last season and the team considered selecting a quarterback at the top of the NFL Draft. But it sounds like the team has decided he is solidly the team’s first-team quarterback heading into training camp.
On Wednesday, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll reportedly said that Daniel Jones will be getting all of the first-team reps with the team during training camp as the Giants prepare for the upcoming season.
“Daniel Jones has been cleared for 11-on-11 drills. ‘He’s getting all the reps’ with the ones, Daboll said,” Dan Salomone of the New York Giants team website wrote in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
Jones signed a new four-year contract with the Giants ahead of the 2022 season but missed the vast majority of the season after suffering a torn ACL.
This will be a big season for Jones as he looks to prove himself as the team’s starting quarterback after the Giants openly considered bringing in a new rookie quarterback through the NFL Draft.
