The Kansas City Chiefs brought in veteran star wide receiver Hollywood Brown this offseason to give the team some much-needed help at the wide receiver position, which the Chiefs have been lacking in recent years. However, Brown has been sidelined with a shoulder injury he suffered during the team’s preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and it sounds like there’s a chance he might not be healthy by the start of the season.

During a recent press conference, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was asked whether or not he anticipated Hollywood Brown returning in time for the start of the season. And he didn’t necessarily give the most optimistic response.

“Yeah, we’ll see,” Reid said according to Pro Football Talk. “We’ll see how that goes.”

Obviously, this injury is pretty terrible news for the team considering the Chiefs are notoriously thin at the wide receiver position, but Reid seems to think that they will get by without him if he is not able to return by the start of the regular season.

“But without him in there and his experience and that in the league … we’ve also got some other guys who can step in and play,” Reid said. “We’ll be OK there, but we’re pulling for him to get back, obviously.”

We’ll have to see how soon he can return.
