The New England Patriots have their share of problems on the field, starting the year at 1-4, most recently losing to the Miami Dolphins. Now the Pats have off-the-field issues as well.
Per ESPN, New England’s star safety, Jabrill Peppers was arrested after police responded to an incident on Saturday morning. As a result, Peppers has been charged with “assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B substance believed to be cocaine.”
Fans could hardly believe the news, but that didn’t stop them from reacting to the charges online.
“Has a franchise ever gone from ” the gold standard” of a league to an utter disgrace, in such a short period? I’m sure there are other examples but this almost seems like new ground,” one fan said on Twitter.
“Jesus Christ help this man. The NFL lets anyone play in this league as long as they make the owners money. Murderers, rapists, gang members and violent big as MFs If people are getting high then the nfl needs to get them help asap,” someone else contributed.
“Great, the one Patriot other than Andrews who could fit in with dynasty Patriots,” a fan added.
“Good thing I never got his jersey because I was close after he signed his extension. Yikes,” someone else said.
The news is extremely disturbing, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Patriots and NFL elect to handle the situation.
