Giants fans shame the team in the only way you can in New Jersey: billboards

When fans are mad at sports teams, executive and players, they take out their frustrations in many different ways. Some burn jerseys. Some tweet nasty things at the athletes and executives in questions. And others pay exorbitant sums of money to take out billboard shaming the teams for their decisions.

This is what some very angry Giants fans did after it was confirmed the team benched to-be Hall of Famer Eli Manning for Jets washout Geno Smith.

Some people rent out planes to fly banners over stadiums, and some buy ad space on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike. Here are some more details courtesy the New York Post:

The electronic billboards that read “Big Blue Shame on You” in a font that mimics the Giants logo were sponsored by a group of anonymous Giants fans, The Post has learned.

The three billboards, all near MetLife Stadium, first appeared Wednesday and will appear again Thursday. They are on the western spur of the New Jersey Turnpike in Kearny, on I-80 in Elmwood Park and on Route 46 in Totowa.

There’s plenty of money to throw around in Northern New Jersey on billboards like this apparently, and some Giants fans were so angry with the decision that they dropped at least a four-figure sum of money to shame the team with billboards that hundreds upon thousands of people are going to pass by. From Kate Mara to Mike Francesa and now billboards on the sides of America’s worst highways, everyone knows how much a few well-off Giants fans hate the decision to bench Eli Manning for Geno Smith.

Too bad it won’t force the team to change their minds.
