New York Giants starting quarterback Daniel Jones has not played since suffering a season-ending ACL tear last season, and it sounds like he can’t wait to get back on the field.
During a recent press conference, Daniel Jones made it clear that he would like to play in the upcoming preseason showdown with the Detroit Lions.
“Yeah, I’d like to play,” Jones said according to the New York Post. “At the end of the day, that’s coach’s decision and I’ll do whatever Dabes’ thinks.”
Typically, starting quarterbacks do not play all that often throughout the preseason. Last year, Jones was limited to just one series in the preseason. He knows that there’s a chance he won’t play all that much during the preseason, but he vows to be ready for the start of the season regardless.
“I think we try to make practice as game-like as possible and get real game-speed reps in practice to make sure you’re ready to go,” Jones said. “Regardless of what Dabes decides this coming game, I’ll be ready to go when given the chance.”
Still, it’s pretty clear that Jones would like to have the chance to play this preseason. We’ll have to see if the Giants let him.
