Throughout the pre-draft process, the New York Giants were linked to several quarterbacks as the team was seemingly quite interested in adding a new quarterback through the NFL Draft. And it doesn’t sound like Daniel Jones was too happy about that.
During a press conference this week, Daniel Jones admitted that he wasn’t really a fan of the team expressing interest in several rookie quarterbacks in the draft, but he just tries to control what he can control.
“I wasn’t fired up about it,” Jones said according to Pro Football Talk. “It’s part of it at this level. What I can do is focus on myself, getting healthy and paying the best football I can play — that I know I’m capable of playing. That’s my job, that’s what I’m gonna do. . . . I’m always motivated. I consider myself a really driven guy and I’m always going to work as I hard as I possibly can. It’s part of it, but I’m fired up we got Malik and I’m looking forward to getting to work.”
Obviously, the team did not select a quarterback, drafting wide receiver Malik Nabers instead. But it sounds like Jones was bothered by the team even considering bring in another quarterback.
