As we enter the closing stretch of the 2023 NFL regular season, Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott is among the top contenders for the league’s MVP award. Hurts is happy to be in the conversation, but he sees it more of a reflection of how his team is playing.
During a recent press conference, Dak Prescott was asked about his status as an MVP contender, and he took the opportunity to point out that if he’s in contention for the league’s MVP award, that means that the team must be playing well and nearing its goals – so he’s happy about it.
“No, I mean, it means I’m playing well. Simple as that. Not really,” Prescott said according to Schuyler Dixon of the Associated Press. “I’m about one goal, and it’s a big team goal, and I know if my name’s in there that means we’re playing well. So, that’s great. But at the end of the day, we’re just trying to build. I mean being eight years into this thing, it’s about building and building and making sure we’re getting better and better each and every week and getting hot right when we need to be.”
So far this season, Prescott has 23 touchdowns to just six interceptions with a passer rating of 107.4, which is by far the best of his career.
He’s certainly putting up MVP-caliber numbers, but it’s clear that he just wants it all to lead to team success.
