As the Cincinnati Bengals prepare for the 2024 NFL season, they made a series of transactions aimed at trimming their roster down to 53 players.
That included waiving 11 players on Friday, with quarterback Rocky Lombardi among the players Cincinnati has released.
The full list of players released by the Bengals includes:
- WR Hakeem Butler
- HB Noah Cain
- OT Jackson Carman
- DE Andre Carter
- LB Aaron Casey
- S Michael Dowell
- CB Allan George
- WR Kwamie Lassiter II
- QB Rocky Lombardi
- G Eric Miller
- DT Joshua Pryor
The Bengals initially acquired Lombardi as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft. The Ann Arbor, Michigan, native began his college career at Michigan State before transferring to Northern Illinois, where he played from 2021-2023.
Appearing in 13 games for the Huskies last season, Lombardi completed 57.8 percent of his passes for 2,274 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Him being released by the Bengals ahead of the 2024 season hardly comes as a surprise, as Cincinnati also has quarterbacks Joe Burrow, Jake Browning and Logan Woodside on its roster.
As for the Bengals’ other releases, the most notable is offensive Jackson Carman, who Cincinnati selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Over the course of his three seasons with the Bengals, the former Clemson Tiger appeared in 22 games, including six starts.
