The University of Iowa has banned two members of their wrestiling team after an arrest for illegally hunting rabbits on campus. Freshmen Alex Meyer and Connor Ryan were reportedly caught with BB guns and air rifles late Tuesday night during their rabbit raid.
It it unclear if the two were sober or inebriated but I cannot imagine Athletic Director Gary Barta did not crack a brief smile when scolding the two pioneers. Obviously their decision for this late night rendezvous was foolish and could have produced unfortunate consequences, but should the Big Ten consider adding Rabbit Hunting to their slate of intercollegiate athletics in 2013?
