There are many ways for a rookie to make their mark early in their NBA career. There’s the Damian Lillard route, which puts your name in the same sentence as legends such as Isaiah and Oscar. And then there’s Thomas Robinson, who is following in the footsteps of a different kind of legend.
With ten minutes to go in Sacramento’s 105-103 victory over Detroit Wednesday night, the 6’10” power forward (and 5th overall pick in the NBA draft) landed a vicious elbow to Jonas Jerebko’s neck, which warranted an automatic ejection. Worse for Robinson, the blow likely earned him a coveted spot on Commissioner David Stern’s Watch List — just five games into his career. And as Watch List regular Metta World Peace/Ron Artest can confirm, it’s not a good place to be, at any point in your career.
