Poor Thaddeus Young. His woeful 76ers are mired in the second-longest losing streak in NBA history, while his front office, in an attempt to accomplish such a feat, shipped off the last remnants — Spencer Hawes, Evan Turner — of his once-promising (but now tanking) young team. Tonight, the 76ers take on the Houston Rockets — in Houston, no less — in a game that very likely will leave the 76ers tied with the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers for an all-time NBA-worst losing streak of 26 games.
So, is there any silver lining to this? Well, Philly has put themselves in an excellent position to get a high draft pick. There’s also the part streaks of this type are often quickly forgotten. I mean, does anyone actually remember the post-LeBron Cavs losing 26 consecutive games? Didn’t think so. As such, Thad Young is already on that road to wiping this season from memory:
The last victory had come Jan. 29 on a buzzer beater by Turner in Boston, so long ago that forward Thaddeus Young, the one established Sixer, said, “Tell you the truth, I don’t even remember it.”
Just think, if Evan Turner hadn’t hit that buzzer beater against the Celtics, the Sixers’ streak would be at 28 already.
