While the eyes of the basketball world were fixated on a pair of Top 5 showdowns in Chicago Tuesday night, the Joey Crawford Circus made a stop in Philadelphia for a match-up between two Eastern Conference teams who, come June, will likely be choosing players involved in said Top 5 showdowns.
The 76ers were granted a sideline out-of-bounds play late in the third quarter against the Cleveland Cavaliers, when Crawford halted the game and motioned for a ball boy to come over and wipe a wet spot on the floor. The poor kid lumbered over, wiped the spot (which was out of bounds), and was headed back to his designated place along the baseline, when Crawford went ballistic, calling two other ball boys over to fix the (apparently) subpar cleaning effort.
Let this be a reminder that nobody is safe when Joey Crawford is in the building.
UPDATE: We have been informed that the game was Friday night, not Tuesday night, as your truly implied (time to fire a fact checker!). That being said, the point about both of these teams competing for the services of Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Julius Randle, etc. next June still stands.
