While we always see the success stories in sports, for every star like LeBron James, there’s thousands of basketball players who work just as hard at their craft who struggle to make it.
Grit Media was granted exclusive access to a private LeBron shootaround with his childhood friends/former teammates in Ohio the summer that LeBron decided to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014. While LeBron obviously became the King of the Cavs, others, like LeBron’s friend Romeo Travis, have spent years upon years playing overseas trying to crack into basketball’s biggest stage. This is their story.
In a series called “Deployed,” Grit Media will follow three American basketball players who go abroad to chase their dream of playing professional hoops. Along with Romeo Travis, Grit has also released a clip on Erving Walker, a basketball prodigy from New York City who never made it into the NBA.
