The NBA announced its All-Rookie teams today, and there weren’t a whole lot of surprises. Andrew Wiggins, the Rookie of the Year, was the lone unanimous first team choice. Meanwhile, Nikola Mirotic, Elfrid Payton, Jordan Clarkson and Nerlens Noel rounded out the top 5 (the rookie team does not make a distinction between positions). The first and second teams are a perfectly fine mix of players from mostly crappy teams, from which these All-Rookie teams are usually constructed. In other words, a team’s record isn’t really (or, shouldn’t be) a factor in voting. Unless you’re longtime Atlanta Hawks play-by-play man Steve Holman.
Holman was one of three voters who not only left Nerlens Noel off the first team ballot, but the second team as well. Considering Noel was a first teamer on all but five ballots, this is already epically stupid. What makes Holman’s snub even worse is the logic behind it:

As if you needed an explanation for how moronic that is, Holman’s ballot included Wiggins and Langston Galloway, who played on teams with worse records than the Sixers.
