The Charlotte Hornets are coming back, y’all!
The Charlotte Bobcats were officially granted permission by the NBA to change their name to the Hornets on Thursday. Barring any unsuspected resistance from the rest of the league, the Hornets will be back in Charlotte starting in 2014.
The Bobcats came into existence in 2004, two years after the Hornets moved to New Orleans. With New Orleans now the home of the Pelicans, that left Charlotte with the opportunity to get all nostalgic. Time to break out those dusty ’90s Starter jackets, people!
So long Bobcats, it was a good run.
(Just kidding, it was a friggin’ terrible run.)
