You may have heard earlier this month that the New York Mets Single-A affiliate will be holding a ‘Seinfeld’ night this summer to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the hit show’s pilot. While that promotion is awesome, the St. Louis Cardinals’ Single-A affiliate will be celebrating another great 90s TV show later this year.
The State College Spikes will welcome Alfonso Ribeiro (aka Carlton Banks) to their ballpark when they play host to the Williamsport Crosscutters (Phillies affiliate) on June 29th, and have officially dubbed the occasion ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ night.
To honor the show that helped propel a young Will Smith to stardom, the Spikes will be wearing these awesome ‘Fresh Prince’ themed jerseys that are styled after the show’s opening credits:
The jerseys will be auctioned off during the game with the proceeds going local children’s hospitals, so the great promotion will also do a lot of good. I expect they’ll raise quite a bit of money considering I would kill to have one of those sweet jerseys.
Also, I fully expect the Spikes to blast Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual” over the stadium’s speakers all night long so that Carlton can get his Carlton on.
