Unless you’re a baseball fan in Las Vegas, there aren’t too many people happy about the Oakland A’s impending move out of California to Sin City.
A’s fans packed the Coliseum this week in a “reverse boycott” to prove that lack of support wasn’t the problem, though it’s become very clear to most people that owner John Fisher is the villain in this story.
One of the people who seems pretty clear on this is Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks.
Recently, Hanks was being interviewed at a media event and was asked if he would consider buying the A’s from Fisher. While that seems like an unlikely scenario since the A’s are valued at around $1.18 billion (unless he had help), the legendary Hollywood actor did have some spicy words for the franchise ownership.
“We’ve lost the Raiders. The Warriors moved to San Francisco. And now they’re going to take the A’s out of Oakland.… Damn them all to ****,” Hanks said.

When the host said the A’s were averaging only 2,000 fans per home game, Hanks was unfazed, saying, “The greatest fans in all of baseball.”
Hanks would know. He worked as a hot dog vendor at the Coliseum when he was 14. The A’s have a special place in his heart, like so many other Oakland fans. And it’ll be a shame if they do indeed leave for Las Vegas.
