Over the past few days, Nike has received a lot of criticism for the uniforms that they designed for Major League Baseball as spring training begins, and the sportswear company has finally addressed those concerns.
Ever since spring training began, Nike and manufacturer Fanatics have received a lot of criticism from players, media, and fans across baseball regarding their appearance and fit with one of the biggest concerns being that the pants seem to be see-through. After days of backlash, Nike addressed the concerns with a statement on Thursday evening.
“We always put the athlete at the center of everything we do,” Nike said in a statement to The Athletic. “We worked closely with MLB players, teams and the league to create the most advanced uniforms in the history of MLB which are lighter and more flexible. The quality and the performance of our product is of the utmost importance to us. We will continue to work with MLB, the players and our manufacturing partner to address player uniforms.”
It’s not clear what sort of changes Nike and Fanatics intend to make or how soon they can remedy the problems, but it’s clear that people are not happy with the quality of the uniforms.
