Maybe grab a tissue or two before we proceed. Nine-year-old Alayna Adams’ dad Lt. Col. Will Adams has been deployed in Afghanistan for most of the past two years. The young girl was selected by the U.S.O. to throw out the first pitch before the game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night. Before the first pitch the lieutenant appeared on the video screen of the stadium with a message of to his daughter saying that he would see her soon. Alayna threw a pretty decent first pitch, then the catcher unmasked himself to congratulate the young girl. Underneath all of that catching equipment was Alayna’s father with a huge smile. The overwhelmed daughter ran into her father’s embrace for a memorable and touching moment.
