Miami Marlins pitcher Henderson Alvarez squared up to bunt against the Giants’ Matt Cain on Saturday, but when he saw a Cain fastball heading right toward him, understandably, he bailed. But Henderson’s bat did not bail.

Instead, the lumber levitated for a second and bunted the ball anyways, deflecting the pitch into foul territory. It was something you certainly don’t see every day and was probably the best or worst bunt you’ve ever seen, depending on how you look at it.

Check out a couple angles of the play.
