British cyclist Mark Cavendish was involved in a heavy duty multi-bike during the last few hundred yards of Stage One at the Tour de France. You can see the veteran attempt to clear space for the final run but became entangled with Simon Gerrans, sending them both violently to the ground.
While it is rumored that Cavendish suffered a broken collarbone on the spill, it is miraculous he was not squashed by other cyclists.
