Kelly Slater is without a doubt the greatest surfer on the planet, and perhaps the greatest to ever live. So it comes as no surprise that he would want to open a water park based solely around every surfer’s dream — riding an endless perfect wave.
The Kelly Slater Wave Company is a project that Slater started several years ago in hopes to create a surf destination that provides a truly one-of-a-kind experience based around beach culture and the surf lifestyle.
The Kelly Slater Surf Experience is an island that is surrounded by a circular moat-like pool that pumps out an endless stream of waves. This pool, however, is not like other wave-simulating pools that you may have seen or visited.

Slater has been working for years in collaboration with some of the world’s top experts in hydromechanics, mechanical systems and industrial engineering in an effort to create a perfect, endless wave.
Proprietary hydrofoil generators create specific types of swells that form directly next to the generators. This allows for the direct creation of customized swells with high energy transfer rates. KSWC does not pump air or water to generate waves, as these processes are inefficient and unreliable. Hydrofoil systems have been proven to provide the most robust and efficient wave generation possible. KSWC’s unique hydrofoil systems are capable of generating perfect waves of variable form and height.
Advanced Patent Pending technologies control currents, waves and chop within the closed circular basin. These include: wave; seiche and chop cancelation; passive flow redirection; and other current mitigation systems. The bathymetry of the basin is designed to provide optimal wave shape and guest safety. These passive systems have no particular maintenance requirements and allow the continuous generation of multiple high-quality waves.

This innovative technology allows for riders of every skill level to enjoy the perfectly constructed swells. The pool can produce small whitewater waves that younger or less skilled people can surf and boogie board on, as well much bigger waves that more advanced surfers can get barreled in or performs airs on.
The exact location of where this incredible park will be is still up in the air, but the rumor mill says that it will be on the Gold Coast of Australia.
