The good news for sneakerheads is that Jordan Brand will be “remastering” their Air Jordan retro line starting in 2015 in order to adhere as closely as possible to how the shoes were constructed when they were originally made. That means materials that more closely resembles the OG leathers and cleaner construction for all future Air Jordan retros. The bad news is that it’ll come with a price increase.
Original speculation had pegged a price spike of about 10-15% in 2015 from 2014’s standard $170 retail price ($150 for lows and $140 for Air Jordan I and II’s). Now, there’s a concrete answer.
The remastered Air Jordan retros will run for $190. Retro lows are seeing a price spike to $170 and the Jordan 1 will be increased to $160.
Time will tell if the Jordans will be worth the increased cost as far as the supposed material enhancements. One would think that there’d be a price ceiling for retro Jordans but the Air Jordan market is as strong as ever and it’s showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
