The January 10th matchup between the 24-7 Miami Heat and the 10-21 Brooklyn Nets lost pretty much all of its appeal a long time ago, save for one small intriguing bit of NBA history: it will be the first time players are allowed to wear nicknames on the back of their jerseys during a regular season game. The NBA announced the uniforms before the season started, and fans were provided a tease recently of Ray Allen’s totally appropriate “J. Shuttlesworth” jersey.
Today, the league unveiled samples of the remaining jerseys, including Norris Cole’s “Cole Train”, LeBron James’ “King James”, Deron Williams’ “D-Will”, Paul Pierce’s “Truth”, and something I can’t read, but is presumably Andrei Kirilenko’s.
