They always say, “Beware the Ides of March,” and for good reason. Since ancient times, March 15 has been thought of as a day full of tragic possibilities (Caesar was killed on this day – google it) and this year was no different. West coast correspondents went hard and broke the story late last night, but those of us further to the east had to wake up to the bad news.
The hip-hop game lost a legend last night. Nate Dogg, born on August 19, 1969 as Nathaniel D. Hale, passed away at the age of 41 after battling complications from a pair of strokes he suffered in 2007 and 2008.
Nate Dogg’s unique style of singing over certified gangster shit made him a favorite of hip hop fans and those with good taste in things in general. Like Aiwa, he didn’t always make things, but he made them a hell of a lot better. Rather than go on and on about the millions of records his collobas sold or the Grammy nominations garnered, let’s just get to the music (as a sign of respect). Without further ado, we bring you:
