The college football world is mourning this weekend as Utah State Aggies football player Andre Seldon Jr. has passed away after a tragic accident.
The school announced the news of his tragic passing on late Saturday night.
“Our football program is heartbroken to have to endure the loss of one of our own,” interim head coach and defensive coordinator Nate Dreiling said in a statement. “Having had a previous relationship with Andre during our time together at New Mexico State, I can tell you he was an incredible person and teammate. Our condolences and prayers go out to Andre’s family as we grieve with them over this tremendous loss.”
According to the announcement from Utah State, Seldon was seen diving from cliffs at Porcupine Reservoir on Saturday but did not resurface. His body was then found at 9:05 p.m. by the Utah Department of Public Safety dive team.
Obviously, this is an absolutely tragic loss for Utah State and the college football community, and people quickly flooded social media to mourn his passing and pay tribute.
Andre Seldon played at NM State in 2022 and 2023. He was adored by literally everyone; teammates, coaches, fans and the media. Not many people I’ve covered that I thought as highly of as I did of Andre. Great player, so insightful and so genuine a person. I will miss him. RIP. https://t.co/LN66J9gKNC
