Brutus Buckeye Syndication: The Columbus Dispatch

After yet another loss for the Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball team, it seems that fans have grown quite discontent with head coach Chris Holtmann.

On Saturday night, the Buckeyes suffered a blowout loss to the Northwestern Wildcats, marking their fifth loss in their past six games. It also continued a stretch of brutal performances on the road as Ohio State has now lost 14 consecutive road contests. The team’s last road win, ironically, enough, was against Northwestern on New Year’s Day of 2023.

After several seasons of disappointing performances under Chris Holtmann – Ohio State has yet to advance out of the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament a single time and missed the tournament entirely last season – Buckeye fans are ready to move on from their head coach, calling for Holtmann to be fired.

It’s still January, so there is technically still plenty of time for Ohio State to turn its season around at this point, but it’s pretty clear that Ohio State fans are ready to move on from Holtmann as the team’s head coach and want the team to find someone else for the position.

We’ll have to see whether or not that ultimately happens either during or after this current season.
